Saved from a life of prostitution in the Old West, she is determined to make a new life for herself across the ocean in Cornwall, England. But life below-stairs at Starcross Castle is filled with its own problems, specifically, the problem of making sure that none of her new friends discover the life she came from. That challenge becomes even harder when she falls for handsome and ambitious footman, Owen Llewellyn. Owen has his sights set on winning a job as foreman of one of the mines on the property owned by Starcross Castle’s lord, Peter deVere, the Earl of Dunsford. Those plans take on a new urgency as love blooms between him and Millie. But Lord Dunsford’s wicked nephew, Lord William is determined to undermine Owen and bend Millie to his own lascivious designs. Can the power of love overcome all obstacles, or will Millie’s past stop her from living a new life? A PLACE TO BELONG Clara Partridge has never fit anywhere. Literally. At over six feet tall, she has always considered herself awkward and out of place. But now that she has a chance to break away from the terrible life she’s been living in the American Old West and to start anew in tranquil Wiltshire, England, she is willing to do whatever it takes to fit in. Even though the last job she’s suited for is that of maid in a wealthy gentleman’s house. But when she meets Rev. Arthur Fallon, all of her efforts to be someone she’s not seem to be paying off. Arthur knows he’s not the best vicar, but he tries to be the best man he can be. Even when the Amazonian Clara captures his heart with one awkward outburst in church. Even when he learns the truth of who she used to be. And even when Clara comes to his rescue to help him care for the baby of a fallen woman. Clara and Arthur know they are the last two people who should be together, but their hearts say otherwise. But when word of the baby’s parentage leaks out, Clara finds herself scrambling not just to fit in, but to find a place for the baby—and for Arthur—and for her—to belong. A SECOND CHANCE Noelle Walters can hardly believe how lucky she is to be given a chance to start over after a hard life as a soiled dove in the American West. She takes her position as nurse for charming and irascible Mr. Bond, and confidant of adventurous Miss Elaine Bond, seriously, vowing that nothing will get in the way of her duty to her new friends. Until handsome and tempting Dr. Isaac Newsome comes along. Widower Isaac Newsome doesn’t feel as though he has anything to offer a woman, but from the first moment he lays eyes on Rose, that belief is challenged. Rose’s refreshing, American ways breathe new life into what was becoming a stale existence. But in spite of the fiery attraction between them, Rose is holding something back. It takes a trio of mischievous young men from Brynthwaite Municipal Orphanage, all of Mr. Bond’s wiles, a mysterious and regal bookseller, who is also new to town, and a daring boat race to bring Rose and Isaac together, but even then, will a sudden tragedy pull them apart? A PASSIONATE DECEPTION Ellie Braun is on her way from the Old West to England to start a new life as lady’s maid to American heiress Helena Mortimer. But when Helena runs off with one of the porters from the ship as soon as they dock in London, it’s up to Ellie to smooth things over with Lord Henry Howsden, Helena’s fiancé. But instead of being disappointed, Lord Henry concocts a plan for Ellie to impersonate Helena in order to fool his family. A former soiled dove pretending to be a wealthy heiress in the household of a marquis? What could go wrong? Henry Howsden has resented his father’s attempts to sell him in marriage to a woman he’s never seen from day one. By introducing Ellie to his family as Miss Mortimer, letting them fall in love with her, then revealing her true identity, he intends to prove to them that common people have worth, and that marriage is not a game. But almost from the start, he falls in love with the beautiful, clever, and free-spirited Ellie. She is everything that he has never been permitted to be, and all too soon he can’t imagine a life without her. But the gulf between an ex-prostitute and a British nobleman is an enormous one, and the passion that develops between Ellie and Henry may prove to be as impossible as it is undeniable. A TEMPTING VOYAGE Captain Albert Tennant has lived most of his life on the sea, in spite of his noble status. It is his home and his passion. But the adventure of transporting several of the young women from Haskell, Wyoming to their new lives in England has highlighted how dull his own life has become. Until Domenica Ortega steps aboard his ship. Domenica is more than ready to give up her life as a soiled dove for the promise of a fresh start that London provides. But beneath her brash, devil-may-care attitude lurks a secret fear that she hides from the world. It shakes her to her core that handsome Captain Tennant can see right through her mask to the heart she tries to keep hidden. And unlike any other man, Albert makes her feel safe. When a member of Albert’s crew goes missing halfway across the ocean, Domenica and Albert must discover what happened with very little evidence to go on. They have until the ship reaches London to uncover the perpetrator and bring them to justice. But mysteries are difficult to solve when temptation abounds, and the biggest question of all may be how Albert will be able to let Domenica go at the end of their voyage. by Leslie Grant, West Meets East Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download West Meets East books, The United States and China: two nations drastically different in demographics, history, political structures, and education systems. Despite these differences, educators in each country have discovered they have much to learn from one another. The United States looks east and is captivated by the high assessment scores that many Chinese students achieve. China looks west and is enamored with how the United States fosters innovation and creativity in students. Teachers are increasingly looking across borders to expand, adapt, and offer their students a more balanced education. West Meets East is based on the fundamental premise that strong teaching is at the heart of educational quality and that we all benefit from understanding the practices and professional thinking of exemplary teachers. With this in mind, Grant and her colleagues set out to discover which beliefs and strategies of effective teachers can cross the cultural divide and help students in each nation make breakthrough advances. As educators, it's important to understand that even though we're setting new goals and improving outcomes, excellence is a moving target. In the globally connected 21st century, educational innovations in one country can reset the bar for students around the world. Only by learning from one another can we be sure all our students remain competitive and successful.

This book is intended to validate both claims with the purpose of creating a peace that both people can live side by side in harmony with one another. Many attempts have been made in the past to create a lasting peace. This is the appropriate time in history to bring both parties to the table with the intentions of bringing together a comprehensive peace agreement to both sides.

by Thomas E. Johnson, West Meets East In Kazakhstan Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download West Meets East In Kazakhstan books, The author gained considerable experience of working in countries in the Soviet sphere in the 1980s—Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary—but this did little to prepare him for a long-term stint in Kazakhstan, commencing at the outset of 1993. If his eyes were opened wide in Belgrade, Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest, they were bug-eyed in Almaty, Kazakhstan. There he keenly experienced the harshness and wonders of post-Soviet Kazakhstan. The good news is that Tom Johnson wrote a series of articles for a local English language newspaper, The Almaty Herald, detailing his observations about life in and around Almaty in the 1990s from the perspective of an American expatriate. West Meets East in Kazakhstan is based on those articles, to which the author has added substantial new material. With wry humor, a positive attitude, and an easy-to-read writing style, the author recounts the gentle and not-so-gentle culture shock that he experienced. It is difficult to describe the book’s content. Each chapter stands by itself and might be devoted to such topics as the following: the heavy weight of documentation required by the bureaucracy, the peculiar habit of carrying flowers with the wet ends up and the flowers down, the lack of public gathering places, or the outlandish nature of goodbye parties for departing expatriates. Several chapters describe the author’s forages into the countryside to visit lakes, waterfalls, burial mounds, and “singing” dunes. West Meets East in Kazakhstan makes a good read for anyone interested in life and living conditions in Kazakhstan, as well as the former Soviet Union. Foreigners who lived or worked in Kazakhstan during the period when the Communist economy was collapsing and before the market economy took root should particularly enjoy the book.
