Mining The Borderlands PDF Full

by Sarah E. M. Grossman, Mining The Borderlands Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Mining The Borderlands books, At the dawn of the twentieth century, the US-Mexico border was home to some of the largest and most technologically advanced industrial copper mines. This despite being geographically, culturally, and financially far-removed from traditional urban centers of power. Mining the Borderlands argues that this was only possible because of the emergence of mining engineers—a distinct technocratic class of professionals who connected capital, labor, and expertise. Mining engineers moved easily between remote mining camps and the upscale parlors of east coast investors. Working as labor managers and technical experts, they were involved in the daily negotiations, which brought private US capital to the southwestern border. The success of the massive capital-intensive mining ventures in the region depended on their ability to construct different networks, serving as intermediaries to groups that rarely coincided. Grossman argues that this didn’t just lead to bigger and more efficient mines, but served as part of the ongoing project of American territorial and economic expansion. By integrating the history of technical expertise into the history of the transnational mining industry, this in-depth look at borderlands mining explains how American economic hegemony was established in a border region peripheral to the federal governments of both Washington, D.C. and Mexico City.

Spirit And Scripture PDF Full

by Kevin L. Spawn, Spirit And Scripture Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Spirit And Scripture books, This book considers the academic treatment of biblical interpretation in the renewal movement, the fastest growing tradition in Christendom today. The initial chapter surveys the history of biblical interpretation in the renewal tradition and provides a conceptual basis for the book. In Part II, six renewal scholars outline a proposal for the future of biblical hermeneutics in the tradition. These authors address certain key questions. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in biblical interpretation? What are the distinctive presuppositions, methods and goals of renewal biblical hermeneutics? Three prominent biblical scholars (Craig G. Bartholomew, James D.G. Dunn, R. Walter L. Moberly) respond to the proposals outlined above. These critical responses deepen the examination of renewal biblical hermeneutics as well as increase its appeal to biblical and theological scholars in general. The final chapter offers a synthesis and evaluation of the accomplishments of the discussion, as well as an assessment of the state of the discipline with an eye toward the future.

by Victoria Beauchamp, The Historical Archaeology Of The Sheffield Cutlery And Tableware Industry 1750 1900 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Historical Archaeology Of The Sheffield Cutlery And Tableware Industry 1750 1900 books, For more than 250 years the name Sheffield was synonymous with the cutlery industry, although archaeological evidence shows that the industry goes back as far as the 12th century. With many of the buildings rapidly disappearing or being redeveloped, aside from those that have already been destroyed, this type of publication forms a vital record of an important part of industrial England. The contributors to this volume look at the development of the industry in the 18th century, the production of cutlery and flatware, forks and spoons, the organisation of the labour and working practices, and the geographical and structural development of workshops and other buildings associated with the industry.
