General Principles Of Sacramental Theology PDF Full

by Roger W. Nutt, General Principles Of Sacramental Theology Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download General Principles Of Sacramental Theology books, General Principles of Sacramental Theology addresses a current lacuna in English language theological literature. Bernard Leeming’s highly respected book Principles of Sacramental Theology was published more than sixty years ago. Since that time, there has been a noted decrease, especially in English language sacramental theology, in treatments of the basic topics and principles – such as the nature of the sacraments of signs, sacramental grace, sacramental character, sacramental causality, sacramental intention, the necessity and number of the sacraments, sacramental matter and form, inter alia – which apply to all of the sacraments. This book will be of use in seminary, graduate, and undergraduate courses. The sacraments play an irreplaceable role in pursuing a Universal Call to Holiness that is so central to Vatican II’s teaching.

by Jörg Neijenhuis, Jahrbuch F R Liturgik Und Hymnologie Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.

Touched By Christ The Sacramental Economy PDF Full

by Lawrence Feingold, Touched By Christ The Sacramental Economy Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Touched By Christ The Sacramental Economy books, The sacramental economy was instituted by Christ and entrusted to His Church in order to build up the Body of Christ in a twofold communion: binding the members together with God and one another. Touched by Christ: The Sacramental Economy is an introductory course on Sacramental Theology suitable for all who seek a deeper understanding of how the Church’s sacraments constitute channels of grace, nurture supernatural life, and heal us from our sins. Lawrence Feingold expertly describes the nature of the sacraments; their purpose, fittingness, and relationship with Christ and the New Covenant; their relationship with the Old Covenant rites that prefigured them; the character and grace that they communicate; and the nature of their causality. Touched by Christ shows that the sacraments of the New Covenant should be understood as instruments of Christ’s humanity that are used as words of power to communicate the sanctification that they signify, infuse grace, communicate the Holy Spirit, and build up ecclesial communion in those who receive them with the right dispositions.

Salvation As A Mechanical Process PDF Full

by Richard E. Davies, Salvation As A Mechanical Process Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Salvation As A Mechanical Process books, Christians have been taught that Jesus died on the cross to pay a fine or ransom to expiate or atone for our sins. Furthermore, they have been taught that the death of Jesus is the only way individuals can receive eternal salvation. In general, this notion is called the "doctrine of blood atonement" or "penal substitution," or some similar name. One reason for this teaching is that the development of Newtonian mechanics has led us to believe that God's "laws of salvation" must be as easy to understand as the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century "laws" of our physical world. This book demonstrates that there are alternatives for understanding Jesus' execution that are consistent with the twentieth- and twenty-first-century understanding of our physical world. In fact, the early Christian writers (including the Bible itself) described these alternatives. "Sacrifice" was only one form of the early Christian narrative explaining the death of Jesus. Although "blood atonement" was understandable in ancient Roman culture, it is not understandable in our culture. The inevitable conclusion is that we should abandon "blood atonement" and develop one of the alternative ways of understanding the cosmic significance of Jesus' execution.

Making Christian Decisions PDF Full

by George M. Newlands, Making Christian Decisions Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Making Christian Decisions books, The life of faith in God constantly involves thinking for others, acting in concern for other people. Reflection upon such action involves Christian ethics. As individuals we are concerned with personal ethics in our relationships with other individuals. As persons in society and members of the Christian community, we are concerned with social ethics, with relationships in society as a whole and in Christian responsibility towards all human beings. The purpose of this thought-provoking book is to provide an account of the implications of God's love for our response to a number of highly particular and urgent ethical issues in the modern world. In it, George Newlands examines the major issues of the Church and the social order, peace and war in a nuclear age, personal relationships -- sex and moral values, legal and medical ethical issues -- respect for life and respect for persons, and the meaning of justice within the conflicting interests of society. What Dr. Newlands offers are not authoritative pronouncements on these issues, but considered suggestions, and he shows how no area of life is excluded from the reality, and the opportunity, of making Christian decisions.

Truth Is A Synthesis Catholic Dogmatic Theology PDF Full

by Mauro Gagliardi, Truth Is A Synthesis Catholic Dogmatic Theology Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Truth Is A Synthesis Catholic Dogmatic Theology books, In everyday parlance, synthesis is synonymous with short. Here, Mauro Gagliardi uses synthesis as it has been applied to the Hypostatic Union in Christ: the “Synthetic Union” of the two natures in one Person. All of dogmatic theology is presented from this et-et (both-and), Christocentric approach in Truth is a Synthesis: Catholic Dogmatic Theology. The volume presents for beginners a comprehensive, organic view of the Catholic faith. Truth is a Synthesis spotlights, in a respectful yet clear way, the different views about Christian Dogmatics held by our separated brethren, both Protestant and Orthodox. As he explores the implications of the et-et nature of theology, Gagliardi reveals the underlying unity of both Fundamental and Dogmatic theology “Professor Gagliardi’s book is in every way a magnum opus, both from the qualitative and the quantitative standpoint.”—Cardinal Gerhard L. Müller

Irwin is now available in a completely rewritten, new edition. In light of the historical, theological, and pastoral mandates of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Context and Text is both a proposal for and an example of an investigation of the Church's liturgical praxis from a liturgical-theological perspective. This second edition, which includes an expanded introduction, covers: · new liturgical and ecclesial contexts resulting from newly promulgated liturgies · further research in methodfor liturgical studies · consideration for changes in the cultural contexts in which people celebrate the liturgy. Besides brand-new chapters on time and sacramentality, and additions to the chapter on the arts, this edition also considers the “ongoing ‘texts and contexts’ of the liturgy as always a new event in the life and ongoing discussion of liturgical theology within Christianity.

by Hans Boersma, The Oxford Handbook Of Sacramental Theology Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Oxford Handbook Of Sacramental Theology books, As a multi-faceted introduction to sacramental theology, the purposes of this Handbook are threefold: historical, ecumenical, and missional. The forty-four chapters are organized into the following parts five parts: Sacramental Roots in Scripture, Patristic Sacramental Theology, Medieval Sacramental Theology, From the Reformation through Today, and Philosophical and Theological Issues in Sacramental Doctrine. Contributors to this Handbook explain the diverse ways that believers have construed the sacraments, both in inspired Scripture and in the history of the Church's practice. In Scripture and the early Church, Orthodox, Protestants, and Catholics all find evidence that the first Christian communities celebrated and taught about the sacraments in a manner that Orthodox, Protestants, and Catholics today affirm as the foundation of their own faith and practice. Thus, for those who want to understand what has been taught about the sacraments in Scripture and across the generations by the major thinkers of the various Christian traditions, this Handbook provides an introduction. As the divisions in Christian sacramental understanding and practice are certainly evident in this Handbook, it is not thereby without ecumenical and missional value. This book evidences that the story of the Christian sacraments is, despite divisions in interpretation and practice, one of tremendous hope.

Thomas Aquinas Biblical Theologian PDF Full

by Roger Nutt, Thomas Aquinas Biblical Theologian Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Thomas Aquinas Biblical Theologian books, In the past eight hundred years, it is possible that no other theologian has shaped our understanding of God, man, and the Church more than St. Thomas Aquinas. While many people are familiar with his most famous work, the Summa Theologiae, fewer know of his important role as a biblical theologian. But in fact, Aquinas’ primary work was biblical theology. His biblical commentaries remain invaluable in the ongoing work of Scripture study. The essays in Thomas Aquinas, Biblical Theologian explore some of Aquinas’ most important contributions within his biblical commentaries and the ongoing work of Scripture study. A dozen contributors explore Aquinas’ thought on faith and revelation, the study of the Sacred Page, and other dogmatic and moral considerations.
